Mark Fisher

Mark Fisher (1968–2017) developed the concept of hauntology: how the present is haunted by unrealized futures. It is part of the framework for our practice at Morley House.

Where Fisher traced these cultural ghosts in theory, we work through them physically: using paper, masking tape, charcoal, and text to hold space for memory, opacity, and process rather than clean resolution. Mistakes, gaps, and historical weight are generative materials rather than errors to hide.

His commitment to accessible, public critical thought directly mirrors our approach to art and education: treating writing, teaching, and art-making as one collective, ongoing practice.
