Write on It’  Workshop at Eona Art Residency

In this workshop, we explored how writing can unblock our creative process and how words can become a powerful catalyst for making.

We discussed how one can develop a system of writing and cataloguing ideas that feels simple, unique, and alive.

Generative writing process

Together, we experienced how words are often portals to imagery, and how paying attention to phrases and words that are on our minds helps us understand ourselves and our creative process.

In the beautiful Eona making space

Inspired by the conversations with the participants, I (Dinara) thought about a phrase that has been on my mind recently. It is a writing prompt we had with our recent ‘Moving Through Water’ cohort.

Make work in which despair and hope coexist.

And at Eona, during the making time at the workshop, I wrote a little poem that has encompassed my feelings of the last few months. It is a thank you to all the Morley House students that we’ve been co-creating with this summer and beyond.
